All About Dry-Shampoos

Starting from the left: Oribe Dry Shampoo, Loreal Next Day Hair, Living Proof PDH Dry Shampoo, Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast, IGK Jet Lag Invisible Dry Shampoo, Redken Windblown, CHI Dry Shampoo, Verb Dry Shampoo.

This blog is a field guide to all the dry-shampoos I use behind the chair, have used in the past, and have at home in my own bathroom.

Starting from the left of the above picture:

Oribe Dry Shampoo- Gives texture that sleeps in well. I usually can’t run my hands through my roots after using this product- but in my opinion, that’s a good thing. My oil seems to diminish and it doesn’t leave any white residue. Also, the smell is on POINT! ($$$$)

Loreal Next Day Hair- Light weight texture and versatile enough for every day styling and updos. Not my favorite scent, but definitely a great product. ($$$)

Living Proof PDH Dry Shampoo- I can spray my whole head with this and it will go a little chalky, but just as soon as I brush through it the white color is gone. I am a big fan of Living Proof and I always have this on hand at the salon and in my gym bag. ($$$)

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast- I am not sure if this one is necessarily meant to absorb oils, but it gives great LIFT on dull, lifeless hair. It does give a matte effect to the shine of oily hair. ($$$)

IGK Jet Lag Invisible Dry Shampoo- This one mimics the smell of The Drybar brand they sell at Sephora. One can lasts me QUITE a while using it on myself and clients. A perk is that it’s like vanilla sugar and compares well to the Living Proof PHD dry shampoo as far as wearability. ($$$)

Redken Windblown- I used this because I am a fan of Redken, but it hasn’t been my favorite product. Great for up styles at weddings, but I personally don’t like the way it smells or wears daily. Not as absorbent as I would like, almost feels wet at first after spraying.  ($$)

CHI Dry Shampoo- HUGE fan of the smell, as well as everyone I have ever used this on at weddings; think Abercrombie & Fitch department store from high school. The bonus is that it is so strong it could double as perfume. Great for daily wear- scent could over power after time. ($$)

Verb Dry Shampoo- I am not usually a fan of loose powder for obvious reasons, like the MESS they make. But this version has a tiny spout for easy root/scalp application, this helps it not get all over your head and shoulders. Hold is very light, and very workable. Be sure to brush thoroughly after. ($$$)
